Snowdrifting

I was away visiting family over Christmas, and it turned out to be the whitest Christmas on record here on the island. It was a quiet and magical winter wonderland enlaced with many gifts...peaceful walks under sunlit sparkling trees, feeding apples to an old lonely horse, watching deer come right to the door in search of a snack, warming toes by the fireplace, sipping tea and nibbling on shortbread.... feeling cozy and comforted and so much in the Christmas spirit.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I look forward to visiting you over the next little while, to catch up and share in some New Year's cheer.

  4. That little birdhouse! Oh my! I can just envision a little bird family cozied all up inside, tucked under little blankets, in front of a small fire. Maybe a little Christmas tree with presents they opened Christmas morning. Truly! I can see it! Perhaps too many old cartoons when I was a child, or too many fairy tales - no, that can't be it; you can never have too many fairy tales!

  13. Walking arm in arm through drifts of snow... our boots crunching with each step, and with each peal of laughter...
how beautiful to be able to leave snow angels in our wake as we walk along the lane.
Our breath blows smoke rings up into the early morning air, arousing and awakening everyone we know, everyone we love, to celebrate what this New Year has in store for us.
All my love to you oh maiden of the new season.
